The Big Help Project (Knowsley Foodbank) received a substantial donation to their food supplies in October, after local company Ancorra Environmental completed a unique challenge to fill a food-grade bulk container with food donations.

The innovative idea was the brainchild of Marketing and Strategy Director Jennie Riding, and saw staff from across the business fill the metre cubed Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) with food that will help the foodbank to feed the hungry in Knowsley.

Jennie explained: “We were looking to engage and positively contribute to the local community. With reports of the increasing need for people to rely on foodbanks, I thought the Big Help Project Knowsley Foodbank would be a great cause to support. We like to thing big at Ancorra, and using an IBC would be a great link to our business for this challenge.”

The donations have helped to kick-start the ongoing appeal for donations to support Knowsley Foodbank during the coming winter months, when the need for the foodbank’s services increase. Foodbank Manager Sue Torpey said:” We are really grateful to Jennie and all the team at Ancorra for creating such a unique and effective appeal. These donations have come at exactly the right time as we head into winter, and will help us to be there for people in our community who would otherwise go without food.”
