In this edition’s Meet the Team, we introduce our new Fundraiser Michele Duckworth. Michele has over 20 years of experience in fundraising, and will be leading the Big Help Project in creating a new and exciting events calendar to raise funds and share the good news about the Big Help Project’s work in the community.

Name: Michele Duckworth

What your role at the BHP entails: My position at the Big Help Project is to raise funds to enable the charity to continue the essential and vital work it currently carries out in the community.

Favourite film and why: I normally like films that are very deep and meaningful but then I like to just sit down and watch some films that are really light and fun.  These are Billy Elliott, Cool Runnings and of course Dirty Dancing.

Favourite book and why: And Still I Rise by Doreen Lawrence.  A very powerful and moving book of a mother’s account of her son’s murder and her fight for justice.

Favourite album and why: I do not have a particular favourite album.  My taste in music ranges from Paloma Faith, George Benson to 80’s onwards anything you can have a good sing along to especially in the car and a dance around your handbag when you are out socialising.

Hobbies and interests: I like reading especially autobiographies, being with my grandchildren (if nanny cannot spoil them then who can?) and socialising with friends and family.

Person you most admire and why: My mum – sadly no longer with me but she is still and will always be in my heart.

Interesting fact: I use to play basketball for my county.

Finally, what kind of fundraising and events are you planning to bring to the Big Help Project, and how can people get involved? I am planning with my lovely colleague Donna a variety of events and other activities that will raise funds and the profile of the Big Help Project.  I am looking at a golf day, disco and a Christmas Carol Concert.  We also have a bucket collection at Liverpool One that we are currently recruiting volunteers for, so if you can donate a few hours we would be extremely grateful.
